The president has also reportedly written a message on the CD and signed it. According to South Korea's Chosun Ilbo newspaper, Pompeo has brought with him a letter from Donald Trump and a copy of Elton John's "Rocket Man" on CD.

Pompeo is in North Korea for negotiations following President Trump's historic Singapore Summit with Kim, as the administration looks for a substantive commitment from the North Koreans to end their nuclear weapons program.

Instead, it seems as though the USA needs to get assurances that Kim is still committed to the document he signed in Singapore that calls for the "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" - and to determine what that phrase means to each side.

Now, he'll be able to hear the tune, and maybe return the favour with a mix tape.

On Friday, Pompeo was welcomed by North Korea's Vice Chairman Kim Yong Chol and Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo began his third trip to Pyongyang on Friday, where he is expected to hold talks on nuclear issues with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un and other senior officials.

ABC News' Tara Palmieri reported Kim Yong Chol told Pompeo he would have to pay taxes for his frequent visits to North Korea.

Why England and Belgium both want to lose tomorrow's Group G matchup
But England top Group G because they have a better disciplinary record, after receiving two bookings compared to Belgium's three. Both sides made sweeping changes for the game, which was settled by a brilliant goal from Adnan Januzaj just after half-time.

Meanwhile, U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton said Sunday that he expects Pompeo to discuss with the North Koreans a plan to dismantle the nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs in a year.

Trump offered a contrast between the relationship between the USA and North Korea under Obama and under his own leadership, "Under the Obama administration they were launching missiles, they were testing".

"On this trip I'm seeking to fill in some details on those commitments and continue the momentum toward implementation of what the two leaders promised each other and the world", Pompeo was quoted as telling reporters during a brief stopover in Japan earlier in the day.

The top United States diplomat, who will be staying overnight in the North Korean capital for the first time, said he looked forward to a "very productive" encounter. He said the Trump administration can not give in to demands from Russian Federation and China to loosen sanctions before denuclearization is achieved.

But following talks on Sunday between USA envoy Sung Kimand North Korean counterparts, this "CVID" language appears to have disappeared from the State Department lexicon.

The lawmaker's remarks come as Pompeo met with officials to "fill in" details on how to dismantle the North's nuclear program and recover the remains of US troops missing from the Korean War.
