Warner Bros. Drops Visual Clue to Wonder Woman 2 Setting
A while back, word circulated that Patty Jenkins" Wonder Woman 2 (or whatever it ends up being called) would take place during the "80s, and if this image is to be taken at face value, it certainly seems like that's gonna turn out to be the case. Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment's president and CEO, changed his Facebook cover photo to a new logo for the sequel, which confirms that the sequel will take place in the year 1984, 60 years after the WWI setting of the original. The first film was mostly set during World War I in 1917. The director-actor duo is returning for the sequel set against the backdrop of the Cold War. Jenkins told Entertainment Weekly, "The story will take place in the US, which I think is right".
Wonder Woman was a big hit for Warner Bros. last year, setting numerous records on its way to $821 million worldwide and becoming the top-grossing film of all time from a female filmmaker with solo directing duties. The '80s, after all, was one of the most interesting eras in music, film, art, and culture. The film has a script by Jenkins, Johns and Dave Callaham. Critics hailed it as the best DC film since The Dark Knight.
