President Trump told graduates of the U.S. Naval Academy Friday that they are joining "the greatest fighting force for peace, justice and freedom in the history of the world". "Yes, they're respecting us again - Yes, America is back".

"We are respected again - I can tell you that", he said.

Last year, he gave remarks at the U.S. Coast Guard graduation ceremony in New London, Conn.

At one point, the president made a vague reference to the Naval Academy's winning streak in the annual Army-Navy matchup, saying he didn't want to mention who won the game, but applauding the school's record of "winning".

"We know that the best way to prevent war is to be fully prepared for war and hopefully we never have to use all of this attractive new powerful new equipment", Trump said.

The president blamed "cynics and critics" for trying to "tear down" the United States. It is not working too well lately. "In recent years, the problem grew worse". A growing number use their platforms to denigrate America's incredible heritage, challenge America's sovereignty, and weaken America's pride.

"Our economy is the strongest it's ever been and our country has regained the respect that we used to have long ago overseas", stated President Trump. "We are not going to apologize for America". We are going to stand up for America.

The president also said First Lady Melania Trump is doing well, after spending most of last week in the hospital after a kidney procedure. "We are going to stand up for our values, and we are going to stand up for our men and women in uniform".
