Soon after its exit poll predictions with VMR projected the Congress as the single largest party, the channel announced that it was going to broadcast another exit poll numbers. In the tightly-fought election, the poll of exit polls predicted that the BJP may get 99 seats, the Congress 88 and the JD (S) 33. However, India News-Today's Chanakya has predicted a clear cut majority for the BJP with 120 seats.
If it loses Karnataka, Congress will only have two small states, Mizoram and Punjab, and the small territory of Puducherry which together account for about 2.5 percent of India's population of 1.25 billion. The counting of votes would be done on May 15, Tuesday.
As soon as polling for 222 of the 224-member Karnataka Assembly concluded on Saturday, different media organisations and poll observers started to predict possible scenarios about the results.
