LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are gargantuan underdogs heading into the NBA Finals

Rockets' Paul out for tonight's Game 7 against Warriors

The Cavs play game 1 of the NBA Finals Thursday night against a familiar foe - The Golden State Warriors. The Houston Rockets, who were beaten by the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals, have acquired Chris Paul to give James Harden a strong backcourt support, while the Oklahoma City Thunder succeeded to create the "Big Three" of Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony.

He was evaluated this week and is making progress, according to the Warriors.

There wasn't a lot of similarity in Cleveland's and Golden State's seasons, but their last few days have been mirror images of one another - both teams had to win Game 6s at home to fend off elimination, then had to go on the road and prevail in Game 7s to win their respective conference finals.

But even if Golden State gets stuck in the mud in these Finals, it still has more than enough to extinguish the Clevelanders for the third time in the last four years.

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors can't be stopped, no matter what the rest of the National Basketball Association may throw at them.

"I think I've missed one or two practices a [year], because when you live in northeast OH and you have four seasons, you will get sick". Cleveland's Jeff Green recalled watching Durant as a rookie when they were teammates in Seattle, and one thing impressed above all.

Particularly if the Cavs play LeBron James at "center" - as we saw in last year's Finals - or even if they play deadline acquisition Larry Nance (or Kevin Love, to a certain degree) - the Cavs' roster has better length and versatility on the defensive end now.

The approval of the Hon'ble Chief Justice is also not a substitute for an order of the Supreme Court. If we no longer trust the executive, the legislative and the judiciary, we are the only ones left.

"So I felt like the odds were against us from the summer", James continued.

"The Spurs were going underneath on every screen just daring him to shoot", Kerr said. In each of the final two games, they also needed to bounce back from a double-digit deficit at halftime. "Just looking forward to the challenge of going out there and helping the team win". "It's a new team over there, so the other guys, we've got to lock in on their tendencies".

As David Purdum notes in his recent article for ESPN, Cavs superstar LeBron James has been an underdog in seven of his nine Finals appearances. All three are some of the biggest names for some of the biggest sports apparel companies in the world, Nike (NKE - Free Report) for James and Durant, and Under Armour (UAA - Free Report) for Curry.

"I'm glad we're going back", Warriors forward Kevin Durant said.

Perhaps they can get away with that - again - in these NBA Finals. "That's just motivation to be the best that you can be as well".

Tristan Thompson rarely showed up anywhere but the gossip pages for much of the season, but he has regained his role as a rugged rebounder and defender in the postseason. An afterthought much of the season, Thompson rejoined the Cleveland rotation in the playoffs and has provided the Cavaliers with 6.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The All-Star point guard was Cleveland's not-so-secret weapon, the one the Cavs turned to in order to spell James and keep the Warriors off-balance.
