New YouTube Kids announces three tools for parents control
Later this year, parents will be able to handpick every video and channel that children can view through the app, YouTube Kids said in its blog post, even restricting them to, say, 10 videos or a single channel. As anybody who uses Facebook regularly likely knows, having instant access to your friends and family can be an addictive experience - it's easy to unintentionally spend more time chatting with your pals than doing something more productive. From the existing Messenger Kids controls in the main Facebook app, parents can tap on a child's name, then enable the new Sleep Mode option. But some child development experts have called for Facebook to pull it, saying it should not be making apps for kids. The new feature lets parents set parameters for when their kids can and can't use the app.
"When we launched the YouTube Kids app three years ago, our goal was to give kids around the world a place to access videos that were enriching, engaging and allowed them to explore their endless interests", James Beser, Product Director for YouTube Kids, said in a statement.
There are also plenty of reasons to be wary of apps like Messenger Kids and YouTube Kids.
This is something kids are especially susceptible to, as they might lack the self-control adults often learn as they grow up.
Facebook has its own Messenger app dedicated to Kids named with Facebook Messenger Kids.

Facebook has always remained in question to providing donations or some sort of financial assistance to some of the advisors who have been supportive towards its Messenger Kids app.
Facebook is under intense scrutiny after last month's scandal involving Cambridge Analytica, a digital consultancy that improperly accessed 87 million Facebook users' data without their consent. The app already has some built-in tools for parents, including giving them the ability to control their child's contact list. "Facebook told me they would come back with ideas to PREVENT underage use of their product, but instead they are actively targeting younger children".
