Teachers said they won't stay silent and sit on the sidelines any longer. They will wear red, as have other teachers protesting low pay in other parts of the country.
More than 100 teachers in Colorado are planning to walk off the job Monday to rally at the state Capitol.
Another workshop leader, biology major Leah Nadel C'18, asserted that training high school students to have a "more pluralistic mindset ... can have a ripple effect".
"We have more and more students coming to us who have trauma, abuse, neglect, or complex histories that impact their ability to learn and responds in ways that we're used to", Smith said.
"The Denver Public Schools Board of Education and Superintendent Tom Boasberg have been working extraordinarily hard and in partnership with superintendents across the state to press our state government to restore education funding to our schools and ensure our students and our educators receive the supports and compensation they deserve".

And though she'll see her salary increase by about $5,800 with the new pay scale, after 10 years in the classroom, Wiser said she now only makes about $34,000 with a master's degree in chemistry.
