Group says gender pay gap widens in Indiana
On average, women employed full time in the United States lose a combined total of almost $900 billion every year due to the wage gap. In Florida, the average woman earns $5,474 less than the average man, whereas in California the average Latina Woman is paid $41,251 less than a man.
"We employers have to be part of the solution and part of my efforts are to have conversations with other employers through out the State of MS and help us understand the impact women make in the state of MS", said Jones. "One day, the gender wage gap will impact your wives, your children, and your joint income".
Among all fifty states, Florida, California, and NY had the lowest degree of gender-based wage discrimination.
In Michigan, women make about $11,000 less per year than men for the same job with the same qualifications.

The study found that Colorado women receive 84 cents for every dollar paid to a man, with Asian, black, and Hispanic women earning even less.
The National Partnership said that businesses also share responsibility for acknowledging and resolving the wage gap.
That's because, despite drastic societal changes over the past few decades, women still tend to step back from their careers once childcare enters the equation, while men often continue to climb the professional ladder - resulting in higher and higher salaries for men, and stagnant or temporarily non-existent wages for women. On average, women earn about 20% less than their male peers and it could take 100 years to close the gap. And if current trends continue the wage gap in OH will not close until the year 2067. Not only does the gap exists, but research points to a complicated mix of bias and occupational choices that create a pervasive cycle of lower earnings for women.
University of MA sociology professor Michelle Budig found women's earnings slip 4 percent for each child they have. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, along with Deputy County Executive Maria Whyte, Executive Director of the Erie County Commission on the Status of Women Karen L. King PhD. and other county leaders will discuss what can be done here in Western New York to end the pay disparity. The announcement came on Equal Pay Day.
