Russian Lawyer in Trump Tower Meeting Was Kremlin 'Informant,&apos Natalia Veselnitskaya Now Admits

Veselnitskaya was referring to Yuri Chaika, Russia's prosecutor general, for whom on Friday she admitted to being a regular source of information.

They were first reported on by The New York Times.

Veselnitskaya said she was working for Yuri Chaika at the time of the meeting, the prosecutor general of Russian Federation and a "top Kremlin official", according to the New York Times.

Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, who met with Trump campaign officials at Trump Tower in 2016 on the premise of gathering dirt on Hillary Clinton, was more deeply connected to the Kremlin than previously known, NBC News reported Friday, citing emails it had uncovered.

"I operate independently of any governmental bodies", she wrote in November.

The emails were obtained by Dossier, an organization set up by Mikhail B. Khodorkovsky, a former tycoon who was stripped of his oil holdings, imprisoned and then exiled from his native Russian Federation.

Royal Dutch Shell Well Fed, but a Little Gassy
Oil prices have been bouncing back over the past year, helping Shell triple bottom-line profits to £8.5 billion in 2017. Shares of Royal Dutch Shell stock traded up GBX 21 ($0.29) during trading on Wednesday, reaching GBX 2,502.50 ($34.90).

At the meeting, Veselnitskaya instead discussed what she said were unjust USA sanctions on Russian Federation - a hobbyhorse of the Kremlin since the passage of the Magnitsky Act in 2012.

The email was sent by former campaign surrogate and British tabloid journalist Rob Goldstone, explaining the use of the English term for a prosecutor general. USA prosecutors accused Katsyv of laundering proceeds from a $230 million Russian tax fraud scheme by buying real estate in the U.S.

The alleged tax fraud scheme was exposed by Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian lawyer who died while jailed in 2009. The interview is set to be aired Friday, according to the Times. A Russian court convicted him of the fraud a few years after he died in a Moscow prison in November 2009 after alleged beatings and medical negligence.

"Since 2013, I have been actively communicating with the office of the Russian prosecutor-general", Veselnitskaya was quoted as saying. US lawmakers enacted a law named for him that imposed travel and financial sanctions against Russians believed to be involved in his death. The dossier contains numerous allegations of Russian ties to Donald Trump, his associates and the Trump campaign. As that meeting has become central to investigations of whether or not the Trump campaign colluded with Kremlin efforts to disrupt the 2016 election, Trump Jr.'s insistence that the lawyer provided no information and that the meeting amounted to nothing, coupled with the fact that the lawyer has maintained that she has no ties to the Russian government, have been paramount.

Goldstone told Donald Trump Jr. that "the crown prosecutor of Russia" was offering "to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russian Federation and would be very useful to your father".
