North South Korea leaders to meet April 27

A statement by U.S.

On Thursday, Trump said in a speech in OH that he might "hold up" the recently consummated free trade agreement with South Korea until a deal to denuclearize the Korean peninsula is struck with Pyongyang.

The committee posted a pledge on its website March 29 to resolve pending issues on the Korean Peninsula by "eliminating any dependence on outside influences".

South Korean government officials have held high-level talks with their North Korean counterparts and set a date of 27 April for the summit.

Next month's summit - a precursor to a potential meeting between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump - is the culmination of diplomatic efforts after North Korea fired a flurry of missiles previous year.

Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono told parliament that his nation would consider holding talks with North Korea in the context of the other summits taking place.

Ban emphasized the significance of what would be the third inter-Korean summit slated for April 27. Kim's father and predecessor, Kim Jong Il, met with two South Korean presidents - Kim Dae-jung in 2000 and Roh Moo-hyun in 2007 - in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital.

The official's comment demonstrates that Seoul is not looking at the 2003 Libya disarmament framework that led Colonel Qaddafi to dispose of weapons of mass destruction, including chemical and nuclear weapons, in return for sanctions relief from the global community.

"Pyongyang apparently wants to turn South Korea into an ally based on its hopes of avoiding military conflict between North Korea and the United States", said a former high-ranking South Korean government official, noting that such an arrangement would give North Korea more leverage in countering calls by the United States for it to scrap its nuclear arsenal.

Just it's impossible at the moment. "I don't want to sit here and whine about my last couple of years", he added. However, Djokovic has not been able to emulate his arch-rivals on his return from a six-month injury layoff.

In Ohio, Trump also discussed findings in a new report from the White House Council of Economic Advisers saying the infrastructure proposal would contribute modestly to economic growth over the 10-year period and help put hundreds of thousands of unemployed laborers back to work.

Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi is spending two days in Seoul briefing South Korean officials on the results of the talks between Kim and Xi.

The remark comes as the two Koreas have announced plans to hold bilateral meetings next month in advance of a possible meeting between Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un by the end of May.

South Korea's presidential office says a Chinese official is heading to Seoul to brief President Moon Jae-in about the summit this week between North Korea's and China's leaders.

South Korea settled disputes with the Trump administration over steel tariffs and the revision of a free-trade agreement this week.

But in a concession to political realities in Washington, where lawmakers are increasingly focused on their re-elections this fall in what is set to be a hard campaign cycle for Republicans, Trump said, "You're probably going to have to wait until after the election".

Chinese President Xi Jinping promised Beijing would uphold its friendship with North Korea after his meeting with Mr Kim. Trump said Thursday he might postpone finalization of the deal.

The trade deal changes, which preserve the U.S.

SEOUL-While North Korea's consent on summit talks with the South was greeted as a welcome development, the pressing issue of whether it will dismantle its nuclear weapons program remains anyone's guess.
