"It was a great report, no collusion, which I knew anyway". "It was totally conclusive, strong, powerful".
Trump - who habitually blasts the Mueller probe as a "witch hunt - took the House report as vindication".
Panel Democrats fiercely opposed the conclusion, arguing that the committee did not interview enough witnesses or gather enough evidence to support its finding.
In a 253-page, heavily redacted report, the Republican-led committee said while it found no evidence of collusion, over the course of its investigation, it did "identify numerous shortcomings, including counterintelligence concerns, classified leaks, puzzling legal processes and inappropriate or questionable behavior" by both the Trump campaign and Hillary Clinton's campaign.
But he did raise the specter of some other collusion.
The one thing both Republicans and Democrats do agree on is that Russian Federation is likely to run interference campaigns in this year's midterm election- and the USA needs to do more to strengthen cyber-security.
The committee cited the 2016 meeting in Trump Tower with campaign officials Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law, Donald Trump, Jr., the president's son and a Russian lawyer who was supposed to have damaging information about Clinton.
Meanwhile, the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation is moving ahead, along with special counsel Robert Mueller's probe. Republicans say they will pressure intelligence agencies to be able to release more information.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., released a status update from the committee's minority staff to "inform the American public" about "key lines of inquiry" still requiring congressional investigation.
In addition to Schiff, several democratic lawmakers have rejected the Republican majority's decision to stop the investigation, arguing it was a move made to protect the president or curry favor with his administration.
"There are a number of things happening (and will happen) this election via cyber operations (by both hacktivists, nation-states and the DNC)", Flynn wrote in the email, using an acronym for the Democratic National Committee.
In the Committee's report, published on Friday, April 27, questioned the very fact of Moscow's interference in USA elections, as well as in the Affairs of other States and worldwide organizations for the past ten years.
The committee said it found Russian Federation carried out cyberattacks "on USA political institutions" from 2015 to 2016.
Conaway said the committee had pledged to be "as transparent as possible" with the report. In Friday's release, the committee elaborated and exonerated Trump from accusations of wrongdoing, claiming instead that it was the intelligence community and Federal Bureau of Investigation that failed to properly respond to interference in the 2016 election.
However, as the Inquisitrreported last October, Veselnitskaya had been revealed as a probable Russian agent a year ago, when emails showed that the memo she brought to the Trump Tower meeting, purportedly with "dirt" on Clinton, was almost identical to a document she had shared with Russia's top prosecutor Yuri Chaika - the Russian equivalent of the United States attorney general - months before the Trump Tower meeting. One day later, the committee's chairman, Devin Nunes, took a clandestine trip to the White House grounds to review classified information that quickly drew scrutiny after he publicly disclosed that Trump associates' communications had been swept up by USA spy agencies and accused Obama administration officials of misconduct. Trump ultimately chose to declassify the sensitive contents of the memo including details from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act application for Page.
