Ubisoft has announced that it's revamping the way it deals with hate speech, racial slurs, and homophobic comments in Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft has revealed that it's implementing an upgraded system for banning players who use hate speech in Rainbow Six: Siege matches.

Players that engage in toxic behaviour in-game could face either a two day, seven day, 15 day, or permanent ban, depending on the severity of their behaviour.

Robinson went on to highlight the game's Code of Conduct pointing out the paragraph: "Any language or content deemed illegal, dangerous, threatening, abusive, obscene, vulgar, defamatory, hateful, racist, sexist, ethically offensive or constituting harassment is forbidden". She loves games with strong narratives, impossibly large cups of coffee, and The Walking Dead. It will also still have to live alongside the current system of having players manually report those who abuse. The latest title to take a stab at curtailing vulgarity is Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege. If you do get the ban, Ubisoft will give you a direct reason, which is "toxicity".

Should players make violations, they will be notified by a pop-up in the game's user-interface and be banned momentarily. Players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will continue to be subject to Sony and Microsoft's own codes of conduct. This will function similarly to the global broadcast system that's used when someone has been banned for cheating. In a time when esports is picking up much more steam and toxicity is becoming a more present concern, Ubisoft may be becoming more transparent in it's efforts against toxicity.

This is a "first step" toward controlling toxic behavior in Siege, the company said, and more is coming in the future.
