Despite Mueller's Push, House Republicans Declare No Evidence of Collusion

Friendly Reminder Dems Still Got Nothing On Allegation That Team Trump Colluded With The Russians

Even as the special counsel expands his inquiry and pursues criminal charges against at least four Trump associates, House Intelligence Committee Republicans said Monday they have found no evidence of collusion between Donald J. Trump's presidential campaign and Russian Federation to sway the 2016 election.

"We have found no evidence of collusion, coordination or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russians", the majority Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee said in a summary of their report.

Conaway said he hopes that Democrats can work with Republicans on the draft report, and he wants to take their feedback as they shape the final report.

Texas Rep. Mike Conaway led the investigation.

Of course, the House Intelligence Committee doesn't have the final say in this matter.

Several Republicans on the panel have been signaling for several weeks now that they're ready for the Russian Federation investigation to wrap up, arguing that Democrats are trying to extend the probe into the campaign season.

"In the coming weeks and months, new information will continue to be exposed through enterprising journalism, indictments by the Special Counsel, or continued investigative work by Committee Democrats and our counterparts in the Senate", Schiff said in a lengthy statement.

But parallel investigations in two Senate committees into alleged collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump camp continued apace, as did an inquiry led by the special counsel Robert Mueller. Last week, former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg spent six hours before a grand jury called by Mueller, and former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort pleaded not guilty to criminal charges.

That's at odds with the US intelligence community's findings but aligns with the president's argument. A declassified version of the report will be released to the general public.

Documentary About Russian Sports Doping Wins Oscar
Before it blew the lid on a Russian doping scandal, Icarus was already a stranger-than-fiction endeavor. Netflix reportedly paid $5 million to acquire the film.

Democrats were not part of the drafting of the GOP's report, and were not presented with a copy of the findings before Conaway addressed the press.

The committee's sharp partisan divide was illustrated by the counter-memos issued in February regarding the anti-Trump "dossier" that was used by Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department officials under President Obama to obtain a warrant to spy on a former Trump campaign volunteer. Russian Federation denies meddling in the 2016 USA campaign.

Rep. Conway's announcement will doubtlessly please President Trump.

The Republican conclusion breaks with an assessment by the USA intelligence community previous year that found Russian Federation meddled in an effort to help Mr Trump win the presidency.

Republicans "proved unwilling to subpoena documents like phone records, text messages, bank records and other key records so that we might determine the truth about the most significant attack on our democratic institutions in history", Schiff said.

Conaway accused Democrats of seeking to prolong the probe ahead of the mid-term elections. After the committee votes to adopt it - likely with Republicans having a majority on the panel - it will be submitted for a declassification review. But he said that the committee did not turn up any evidence of collusion, arguing the promoter who organized the meeting had exaggerated what the Russians would provide.

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has posted documents related to the Russian Federation investigation here.

"I certainly think they didn't like Hillary", Rooney said.

Democrats are expected to write their own report, given the list of witnesses they say haven't testified and documents they say haven't been pursued by the majority.
