The New England Patriots lent a helping hand ahead of a worldwide movement this weekend.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James told The Boston Globe that Kraft made a decision to let the group borrow the plane after former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., and her husband, Mark Kelly, reached out and requested its use.

The couple founded the gun prevention group "Giffords" after the former lawmaker was shot in the head in 2011. He was not aware of any Patriots players on the flight.

According to the Washington Post, Kelly said the students wanted to get to Washington for the march, so they helped to make that happen.

"No report other than they took off and everyone was happy", James told the newspaper.

The plane, nicknamed the "AirKraft", is a Boeing wide-body 767 featuring the team's logo and a depiction of five Lombardi trophies on the tail.
