A former Playboy model who allegedly had a nine-month affair with President Donald Trump is suing the company that kept her original account from publication, The New York Times reported Tuesday. The 1998 Playmate of the Year filed a lawsuit against American Media Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer, claiming that she was duped by the tabloid magazine into signing a confidentiality agreement to protect Trump during the election.

According to her lawsuit, McDougal understood that she would not be permitted to discuss her alleged affair with Trump, and that her story wouldn't be published either.

She also alleged that the lawyer she used to negotiate the deal was colluding against her the entire time with AMI and Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen.

Donald Trump was hit by a fresh wave of legal troubles on Tuesday involving women who either allege they had an affair with him or that he sexually harassed them - while the lawyer for Stormy Daniels, the woman previously at the center of the storm, said there is "a lot of information" yet to come in her court battle against the president.

The White House has said Trump denies having an affair with McDougal.

American Media did not immediately respond to a request for comment. McDougal says Trump did not want to leave a paper trail of their meet ups.

McDougal, a former model, is suing the tabloid giant American Media, Inc.

She seeks a declaration voiding her agreement with American Media. Trump was married at the time to his current wife Melania. Neither are parties to McDougal's complaint. Daniels received $130,000 under that agreement. The alleged mistresses have made similar claims about their courtships with the Big Cheeto, like being showered with golf course related gifts and dates at the same Beverly Hills hotel.

McDougal claims to have flown from Arizona to LA where she was interviewed for hours by AMI CEO Dylan Howard about the alleged affair.
