Footage of Eddie Jones talking about 'the scummy Irish' emerges

At a sponsors' talk in July 2017, the Australian described Wales as a "shit little place" and spoke about how disappointed he was by a recent defeat by the "scummy Irish".

'We are playing them in the Six Nations so we'll get them back'.

Ireland, already crowned Six Nations champions, will complete the grand slam for the third time if they beat England at Twickenham on Saturday.

"They are not directly relevant to us to be honest".

A Youtube video surfaced on Wednesday of Jones delivering a talk on leadership for Fuso, the Japanese parent company of England sponsors Mitsubishi.

"Those words don't impact on how we play or how his team plays and that's our focus".

Jones, 58, said he was "very sorry for any offence caused" and added: "No excuses".

A statement from World Rugby said: "World Rugby has confirmed that Marius van der Westhuizen will be replaced by Nigel Owens as Assistant Referee 2 for the Natwest 6 Nations match between England and Ireland at Twickenham on Saturday".

Prior to World Rugby's announcement England coach Eddie Jones defended van der Westhuizen's involvement with his side by saying: "We went through World Rugby, which is the proper channel".

And World Rugby have reacted, by dropping van der Westhuizen for Nigel Owens.

Schmidt said of the session: "I am sure in retrospect people are probably thinking it may not have been the best thing to do".

"World Rugby takes responsibility for this oversight and has taken the proactive decision to stand Marius down to avoid any additional unfair and unnecessary conjecture. I don't think it will affect his decision making and we would still have faith in him as an official on Saturday".
