Mark Cuban says 'losing is best option' for Mavs. Do Hawks feel the same?
Now a corporate consultant following a brief stint with Under Armour, he added, "I believe these misleading claims about me are part of an attempt to shift blame for the failure to remove (other) employees who created an uncomfortable and hostile work environment within the Mavericks organization".
"Next week, the National Basketball Association will launch a confidential hotline available to all league and team employees to report any concerns arising in the workplace, including but not limited to sexual harassment, illegality, or other misconduct".
The report says that employees became frustrated by the inaction of Mavericks human resources head Buddy Pittman, who was hired in the summer of 1998 after the first allegations of misconduct by Ussery had been reported.
Another team employee, Mavs.com beat writer Earl K. Sneed, reportedly beat two women, including a fellow Mavericks employee, without any consequences from the organization, the report says. I was disgusted when I read the article, obviously, as everybody was.
But the 20-year veteran who has spent his entire career in Dallas said he was glad that owner Mark Cuban was bringing in outside investigators to determine what happened. Sneed pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor family violence charge stemming from an incident during which he "sat on top of [an ex-girlfriend] and slapped her on the face and chest".
Cuban told the magazine the team was establishing a hotline for counseling and support services for past and current employees.
The veracity of that statement remains to be seen, but it's been proven time and again recently that any ignorance, willful, or otherwise, of such workplace conditions by a principal such as Cuban does little to mitigate their responsibility for the damage done to innocent employees subjected to them.
"I am deeply disappointed that anonymous sources have made such outright false and inflammatory accusations against me", Ussery said.
It has been alleged that a former officer of the organization engaged in various acts of inappropriate conduct toward women over a period of years. "I was like, "Look, losing is our best option"," said Cuban.
I just had dinner with a bunch of our guys the other night, and here we are. we weren't competing for the playoffs.
Cuban was never accused of harassing any employees himself by anyone the SI reporters spoke with.
