Microsoft to stop push notifications for Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.0

Windows 7, 8 phone users will no longer receive push notifications. Here is why?
If you're on this version of the OS, it's recommended that you upgrade to a later version of Windows 10 Mobile. Those still using Windows Phone 7.5 or Windows Phone 8.0 will likely want to switch to something newer. They will also lose the useful live tile updates that displayed information at a glance, and users will no longer be able to locate devices with the "find my phone" feature.
Push notifications will be turned off for Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.0 as Windows says these devices have reached the end of their support dates. It's been a while since Windows Phone 8.0 received any security updates as the company has ended all support for the operating system.
Video: No new features, phones for Windows 10 Mobile. Once this happens: Your phone will no longer receive notifications. Neither operating system found a huge audience at the time, and there likely aren't many phones out there using it today - which is part of why Microsoft now finds itself in this suboptimal smartphone situation in the first place.
"Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.0 have reached their end of support dates, and thus services for these versions of Windows will be discontinued over time", Microsoft said on its user forum. The phrasing here keeps the door open that things could change in the not-so-distant future.
Armed man killed after breaking into gaming YouTubers' home
Police say those videos led an Albuquerque man to resent Free and drive to their Austin home last month, apparently to hurt them. Rooster Teeth would have been a go-to as a result since Turney still appears in their output while Free does not.
Microsoft previous year had announced that it will no longer provide any support for the existing Windows Phones in terms of software updates that contain any new features.
Meanwhile, Windows 10 Mobile, which launched in 2015, is still fully supported by Microsoft.
So, yes, here's another milestone in the march to the grave for Windows on smartphones.
The senior editor of Windows Central, Zac Bowden tweeted that the final mobile device will arrive "sooner than soon" or " ahead of schedule". If and when that device comes to market, though, it will nearly certainly not be running anything we would today recognize as a Windows phone operating system.
