They looked around further and found the firearms, police Lt. Gordon Macintosh told KPRC.

Houston police on Sunday arrested a man at a downtown hotel who they said had guns and ammunition in his room, according to local media. After calling for back up, police entered the man's hotel room and noticed ammunition.

"The safety and security of our guests and colleagues is our top priority, and consistent with the hotel's prepared security plans, heightened measures are in place on New Year's Eve", hotel manager Tom Netting said in a statement reported by the Houston Chronicle.

Stanley was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin, four counts of possession of scheduled drugs, unlawful carrying of a pistol and simple possession of marijuana.
