A hot air balloon carrying foreign tourists over the southern Egyptian city of Luxor has crash-landed killing one passenger and injuring 12 others. The crash which happened on Friday is thought to have been caused by bad weather conditions which blew

One tourist was killed and 12 others were injured when a hot air balloon crashed near Egypt's ancient city of Luxor on Friday.

No British citizens were involved, the UK Foreign Office said.

Officials said the pilot lost control after strong winds forced the balloon off course around 45 minutes into the flight.

In 2016, hot air balloon rides were temporarily suspended in Egypt after a crash led to 22 Chinese tourists being injured.

The fatality was South African, according to a health ministry official.

Latest reports say the deceased was from South Africa. The Karnak Temple Complex, which dates back to around 2000 B.C., is located within the modern-day city.

Trump Contradicts Chief Diplomat on North Korea
Later speaking to reporters, Tillerson said that Washington would not accept any preconditions for talks with Pyongyang. These incoherent power games are never going to win the trust of any country, let alone North Korea.

The accident occurred in Luxor, in southern Egypt, which is popular with tourists due to its number of ancient temples and ruins.

Luxor has witnessed hot air balloon accidents in past years.

In 2013, 19 tourists including three Brits were killed when their balloon caught fire flying over the city.

The ancient city of Luxor, which lies on the banks of the River Nile in the south of Egypt, has always been a popular tourist destination due to its archaeological sites.

A fact-finding committee later found that the accident was probably caused by a gas leak near the burner, sparking a blaze that spread throughout the balloon.
