The 31-year-old Frenchman has been the subject of negotiations between Arsenal and Dortmund, who are interested in taking him as well as a large fee in exchange for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has spoken after amid speculation that Chelsea are interested in signing Olivier Giroud this January.

However, in an interview with Sky Sports after the semi-final clash against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Arsene Wenger went on to say, "We lost a great player". We keep our players. However, despite Alexis Sanchez leaving the club for Manchester United, Arsenal did manage to snag Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a swap deal with the Red Devils, which does give them hope for the future.

"We will know the best possible position for him and how to integrate him with the way we want to play".

Asked by reporters about Chelsea's interest in Giroud, Wenger responded, "I want Olivier to stay".

"Maybe one or two young players will go out on loan somewhere, but the experienced side of the squad will remain the same unless somebody comes in". "He understands this is a massive, massive investment".

Marco Silva: Watford blame Everton as they sack manager
Prior to Everton's approach for Silva, Watford had won four, drawn three and lost four from 11 league games. Watford said Everton's approach for Silva in November was the "catalyst" for their decision to sack him.

As for Ozil, who is already eligible to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with prospective suitors to leave as a free agent at the end of the season, Wenger is far from certain that an extension will be agreed, but he still believes the World Cup victor is "ready to commit".

"The suggestion from Borussia is that Arsenal don't have the money".

"He's in the squad it seems for the Freiburg game on Saturday".

"We have nothing to announce today".

"The vibes I get from him [is] commitment".
