Bruce Arians becomes winningest Cardinals coach, other player milestones met
Palmer led the Cardinals to a 3-4 record to start the 2017 season before breaking his left, non-throwing arm in Week 7 against the Rams and going on injured reserve days later.
He called his long professional career "the most incredible experience of my life". "There wasn't one second that I took it for granted or failed to appreciate what a tremendous privilege it is".
Palmer won the 2002 Heisman Trophy at USC, then played 15 years in the National Football League for the Cincinnati Bengals, Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals.
Palmer was the No. 1 overall pick by Cincinnati in the 2003 NFL Draft. "I've seen him grow as a player, picking up this system and having some of the best numbers of his career". The announcement comes one day after his coach with the Arizona Cardinals, Bruce Arians, announced he would be leaving the team and retiring to seek other opportunities.

The group will buy most of the shares from early investors in a deal that values Uber at about $48bn (£35.7bn). The deal nevertheless sharply discounts Uber's value, which a year ago was estimated at nearly $70 billion.
With Palmer and Arians moving on, the team is still awaiting word from future Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald on his plans for 2018. "His numbers and the wins".
"Now it's time for something else, and I'm excited to find out exactly what that will be".
"My family and I are beyond grateful for everything this game has give un as well as the love and support we've felt from fans everywhere we've been", Palmer's retirement letter says. "I'll miss coming out of the locker room, hearing the national anthem, because it still gets me". "The mental and physical preparation it takes to compete - week in and week out, year in and year out - is draining and grueling but has always been my favorite part". Despite being the Heisman Trophy victor in 2002 and the top pick, the Bengals opted to sit Palmer for his entire rookie year, as he learned from the coaches and veteran quarterback Jon Kitna.
