Suspicious package to Mnuchin turns out to be manure

The Los Angeles Police Department's bomb squad was called to the home and officers opened the box, finding a pile of horse manure inside.

A Los Angeles Department bomb squad responded to a Bel-Air neighborhood Saturday night due to a suspicious package addressed to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

The LAPD said the Secret Service took over the investigation.

The LAPD's bomb squad and Secret Service were wrapping up their investigation of the package at the Bel-Air home.


"We have $50 million homes and we can't move, we can't get out", Prince Frederick von Anhalt, who was trapped for two hours, said.

The package also contained a note with negative comments about President Donald Trump and references to the $1.5 trillion tax overhaul approved last week by the U.S. Congress and signed Friday by the president, various media reported.

The report of the suspicious package prompted lengthy street closures and a sizable response by local and federal authorities.
