Bhansali arrives to meet the House panel members

Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Central Board of Film Certification chief Prasoon Joshi appeared before a parliamentary standing committee on information technology on Thursday.

Sources said the panel likely to view "Padmavati" will include historians and that the film's producers have re-submitted their application to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), this time filling in the relevant entry stating whether the movie was based on a work of fiction or historical events. "People do panic", Salman said when asked about protest around the film. The censor board has in the past taken help from specialists in fields like medicine and defence while clearing movies based on such themes.

Expressing his views on Bhansali's upcoming movie Padmavati and the controversies it is surrounded with, Salman said: "Nobody but only the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the court will decide on Padmavati".

Bhansali remained with the panel for over two hours.

At Least 200 Dead In Egypt Mosque Attack
The affiliate also is believed to have been behind the 2016 downing of a Russian passenger jet that killed 226 people. The attack took place as worshipers were listening to a sermon during prayers on the Islamic Sabbath.

Some of the other questions put to Bhansali were: How could you assume that the movie could be released on December 1 when you applied to the CBFC on November 11 (as per the Cinematography Act, the CBFC may take 68 days before certifying a movie)?

Amid all this, a new poster of Padmavati that takes a dig at the baseless and useless, waste of time controversy, which is being way more weight-age than what is actually deserves and is taking away the focus from issues that instead need urgent attention, is going viral on the internet right now. However, the whole process of clearing the 3D version of a movie is completed different from that of clearing the movie in a 2D version and there are some of the visual impacts some scenes may have on children. BJP MP Anurag Thakur chaired the panel. Among those who attended the meeting included Congress' Raj Babbar and BJP patriarch LK Advani.

The Lok Sabha panel chairman Bhagat Singh Koshiyari said, "Two MPs had given petitions before us". The secretary to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, too, has deposed before us.

Wondering if creating controversy was a new trend to sell the movie, the panel members pointed out that the media was giving free space due to the ongoing row and even social media had given the movie huge space.
