The fastest growing state was Idaho, followed by Nevada.

Since 2010, IL has lost almost 643,000 people on net to other states.

From July 1, 2016 to July 1 of this year, the Lone Star State grew by 399,734 new residents, pushing Texas past the 28 million mark.

Overall, the US population grew by 0.7 percent from July 1, 2016, to July 1, 2017 - to 325.7 million people.

Wyoming had the largest percentage decline among states, losing almost 5,600 resident or about 1% of the state's population.

Furthermore, the population of voting-age residents (adults age 18 and over) grew to 252.1 million (77.4 percent of the 2017 total population), an increase of 0.93 percent from 2016 (249.5 million). Although the new figures were released Wednesday, they reflect population changes from July 1, 2016, to July 1, 2017.
