'The Partridge Family' Star David Cassidy in Critical Condition with Organ Failure

The rep adds that Cassidy was in pain and taken to the hospital on Wednesday.

David Cassidy, the actor known for playing Keith on The Partridge Family, was hospitalized for multiple organ failure and is in critical condition, a rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday (Nov. 18).

TMZ had reported that David was admitted to a Florida medical center three days ago and was suffering liver and kidney failure.

Cassidy, in an appearance on the talk show "Dr. Phil" earlier this year, opened up about the diagnosis, saying his mother and grandfather also both suffered from dementia.

A spokesperson told the New York Post that Cassidy was "conscious" and "surrounded by family". Cassidy's health has been in decline for more than two months, and his family has been told to prepare for the worst.

The news comes after the actor revealed in February that he has dementia.

Cassidy starred in the beloved "Partridge" series from 1970-1974, and the role made him a popular teen idol.

Cassidy has dealt with substance abuse issues and bankruptcy since finding success early in his life.
