This follows news that the company wanted to acquire the game's developer, Bluehole.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is on Steam Early Access now with a full release scheduled for later this year, and will be available on Xbox One's Game Preview program on December 12.

Bluehole Studio plans to release its record-breaking mega-hit shooting game "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" in China, in partnership with internet and game giant Tecent Holdings, the two companies said on November 22. Alterations will be carried out by Tencent, the game's publisher in the country, to align with "socialist core values", reports Sina Tech. Because of that, Tencent said it will work closely with PUBG Corporation and the Chinese authorities to change the game in necessary ways to keep it legal in the country. "Tencent will localize and operate the game by catering to the preferences of Chinese gamers".

The move comes after China's content regulator slammed the South Korean-made game, PUBG for short, last month for being too violent and said it would likely be blocked because it "severely deviates from socialist core values".

Tencent will run PUBG's Chinese servers and has also vowed to help combat the game's problem with cheaters.

"PUBG is the most popular eSports game played by worldwide players".

Changes will highlight the spirit of teamwork and competition in the game, making sure it delivers "healthy, positive cultural and value guidance, especially for underage users". The companies also plan for "a fair and sustainable ecosystem by seeking co-existence with key stakeholders including live streaming platforms, media and PC cafes".
