In November 2014 and June 2015, his bowling action was found to be illegal by the ICC, despite having remodelled it.

Hafeez, who was due to join the BPL franchise on November 18, was reported for faulty action during the third ODI against Sri Lanka last month.

Former Pakistan bowling great Wasim Akram has advised Mohammad Hafeez to relinquish bowling and just concentrate on his batting that will help him to extend his cricket career. The International Cricket Council said subsequent testing at the United Kingdom's Loughborough University showed a majority of Hafeez's deliveries "exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations". ICC suspended him from bowling in worldwide cricket on Thursday.

This is the third time in three years that Hafeez has been suspended from bowling in global matches.

The spinner has taken 247 wickets in 326 worldwide games for Pakistan.

It is the third time Hafeez has fallen foul of the rules - the previous two coming in 2014 and 2015 - and Pakistan legend Akram says it is time to focus on one discipline.

This is the third time in the last three years that Hafeez has been banned from bowling in worldwide cricket. He tweeted after the news of his suspension came out that he will work twice as hard to rectify his action this time. However, a few months later, his action was reported during the Galle Test versus Sri Lanka.

One thing in Pakistan's and Hafeez's favour is a relatively light worldwide schedule.
