Students from the University of North Texas were celebrating homecoming weekend and were at a party on the third floor of a student housing complex. About 50 residents haven't been able to return to their apartmentst.
CBS DFW said the nightmare for students began at around 1:45 a.m. Sunday when the Denton Fire Departments responded to a report of a fire alarm.
The apartment is at the Ridge at North Texas, a complex that houses students from three schools: University of North Texas, Texas Women's University and North Central Texas College.
Glenn says about 30 people were in the apartment at the time of the collapse and that he believes the structure just couldn't handle that many people dancing and jumping at one time.
Investigators say the collapse was likely caused by too much jumping.
"We've called and said, 'It looks like the ceiling is going to cave in, ' so I feel like with us saying that, there could've been more that was done", she said.
