Amazon founder Jeff Bezos becomes newest $100bn billionaire thanks to Black Friday

Jeff Bezos, Amazon CEO, Washington Post owner, and Blue Origin founder, had a pretty good Thanksgiving this year per Bloomberg, which estimated this week that Black Friday sales on Amazon had put him over the $100 billion personal wealth mark. Amazon shares hit a record on Black Friday - one of the year's busiest shopping days - joining a broader stock market rally.

The rise outstripped anyone else on Bloomberg's Billionaire's Index, and edged Bezos ahead of Bill Gates as the world's richest person in July.

On Friday, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos became the only person with a $100bn (£75bn) fortune, seeing his wealth creep up by $2.4bn thanks to a 2% jump in Amazon's shares. However, on October 27, 2017, Bezos again surpassed Gates on the Forbes list as the richest person in the world.

Get this. Bezos made $2.4 BILLION on Friday! That said, Gates has given a significant amount of his fortune away to charity and in acts of philanthropy.
