First Charges Filed In Robert Mueller's Russia Election Meddling Probe
He was appointed by the Justice Department to lead the investigation a week after the US President fired FBI director James Comey, who was leading a federal investigation into possible collusion with Russian Federation.
The first charges have been filed in Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, less than six months after the special counsel was appointed in the wake of James Comey's dismissal as F.B.I. director in May. It prevents the target of an indictment from knowing they're about to be charged and arrested, which limits the risk of defendants destroying evidence or any shenanigans when they are eventually brought in. The people facing charges, it said, could be taken into custody as early as Monday.
After Comey's ouster, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller to lead the investigation. Subpoenas have also been issued in connection with a handful of other Trump associates linked to Manafort, as well as those related to a meeting in Trump Tower between members of the campaign and a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer.

The president has repeatedly denied potential collusion as "fake news" and a "hoax" perpetuated by Democrats.
The allegation led to speculation that president might have obstructed justice by attempting to influence the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe.
Mueller served as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 2001 to 2013.
The Justice Department's appointment of Mueller as a special counsel came amid growing public demands to place the politically charged inquiry into the hands of an outside investigator with bipartisan respect.
It is unclear what the charges are but it will all be revealed on Monday.
