Panama Papers case: Nawaz's son-in-law arrested on return to Pakistan
The Sharifs have denied any wrongdoing and have labelled the corruption proceedings against them as politically motivated.
The arrest comes in lines with a corruption cases pending against him under Pakistan's anti-corruption authorities.
Maryam criticised the arrest of her husband and said he was taken into custody even though he had come back to face the case."Those who want to appear of their free will are arrested from the airport, but we are not afraid of it", she said.

Sharif's ousting stems from the Panama Papers leaks in 2016 that appeared to show that his daughter and two sons owned offshore holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands and used them to buy properties in London. Those who have sent representatives of 200 million people home should also be held accountable as per law, she held.
"We (will) file an extradition petition in a London's court once Interpol issues their red warrants", the official said.
