Restrictions in Srinagar to prevent Muharram processions

Earlier this week, provincial home minister Sohail Anwar Khan Siyal had asked the federal interior ministry to suspend mobile phone services in major cities of the province on 9 and 10 Muharram.

Cellular services, which remained suspended in different cities during the last three days, were restored.

Internet services were partially operational in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

A senior police official said Karachi remains the most sensitive part of Pakistan as far as terrorist attacks on Muharram processions are concerned. M. A. Jinnah Road has been divided into 23 sub-sectors, whereas all 287 entry points to M. A. Jinnah Road, including the shops on the route have been sealed.
