'Game Change' author Mark Halperin accused of sexual harassment by five women: report
"Game Change" author and NBC News, MSNBC political analyst Mark Halperin is out at the network following sexual harassment allegations against him from five women.
An ABC News spokesman said Halperin left the division more than a decade ago and that "no complaints were filed during his tenure". Three of the women who spoke to CNN described Halperin as, without consent, pressing an erection against their bodies while he was clothed. They all have asked not to be named. None of the women have said, though, that he ever promised anything in exchange for sex, or suggested that he would retaliate against anyone. Multiple women even claimed Halperin, now a political analyst for NBC and MSNBC, rubbed his erect penis against them.
But Halperin released a statement to CNN Wednesday, saying, "During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me. I now understand from these accounts that my behavior was inappropriate and caused others pain", Halperin said.
"This was an open secret when I was at ABC for years", CNN reporter Clarissa Ward tweeted.
The women say that they did not report Halperin's conduct as they were afraid of blowback due to his prominent position at the network.
PM inaugurates first AIIMS like Ayurveda Institute
PM Modi said that Ayurveda is not just a medical practice, but encompasses public health and environment health as well. He said the time had come for a "health revolution" under the aegis of the traditional medicine system.
CNN worldwide correspondent Clarissa Ward, who also used to work at ABC, tweeted that Halperin's behavior was "an open secret" at the network.
The stories of harassment shared with CNN range in nature from propositioning employees for sex to kissing and grabbing one's breasts against her will.
Halperin has denied the charges of breast grabbing and pushing his genitals onto others at work.
Halperin, who went on to work for Time magazine and Bloomberg also wrote "Game Change", a book about the 2008 presidential elections that was adapted into an HBO movie starring Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson.
Veteran journalist Mark Halperin has been accused of sexual harassment by five women, according to CNN. We are going to be following this story as it develops. "Given I was so young and new I wasn't sure if that was the sort of thing that was expected of you if you wanted something from a male figure in news".
