Amla, Perera lead World XI to T20 win

The three-match series after this game is now tied 1-1 with the final T20 scheduled for Friday.

For World-XI, Hashim Amla made unbeaten 72 runs. Iqbal struggled to score which created pressure on Amla.

Shoaib Malik once again tried to lift the innings through his 23-ball 39 that was spiced with three sixes, but a disciplined bowling effort from World XI meant the brakes were applied on Pakistan's innings at crucial junctures.

When Hashim pulled Shadab Khan for a six over mid-wicket, the visitors looked in a position to chase the target.

Cutting ultimately finished with figures of 1-52 off his four overs to cap-off a bad day in the office.

Even the strong-looking pair of Amla and Du Plessis failed to keep up the run-rate as it increased to 11.2 by the 12th over. Sammy did cause slight jitters with his six-hitting skills but they did not turn out to be enough to beat Pakistan.

However, luck did not elude Perera in the second T20I. He scored a 13-ball 21 striking four fours. In the first match of Independence Cup, he leaked as many as 51 runs and then scored a mere 17 in a pursuit of colossal total.

Pakistan, however, won the match 33 runs.

Babar, the man-of-the-match in the series opener, and Shehzad added a valuable 59 for the second wicket. The youngster also got rid of David Miller after getting hit for a maximum the ball before that.

The veteran batsman smashed three huge sixes in his 23-ball knock of 39 before being dismissed in the final delivery of the innings.

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur has said his team would have to be more disciplined to seize the historic Twenty20 global series against the World XI.

Both the teams made two changes to their playing XI.

In the end, the momentum lost during his stay could have proven to be costly for the World XI if not for Perera's late assault.

What an innings by Thisara Perera to square the series.

DID NOT BAT: Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Rumman Raees Khan, Usman Khan Shinwari.

But Perera took charge in the last five overs as he cut loose against Pakistan seamers Shoaib Malik and Rumman Raees.

Ben Cutting and Imran Tahir provided with breakthroughs as they took the wickets of Shehzad and Azam respectively.

Apart from Imad Wasim, none of the bowlers could choke the World XI batters, as five bowlers went over 8 RPO.
