All future Volkswagen models to be electric by 2030

The German automaker said it will spend more than €50 billion ($60 billion) on battery cells as it pushes to electrify all 300 models in its range by 2030.
Like the various other Volkswagen ID electric cars-the ID compact hatchback, the ID Buzz microbus, and others yet to be revealed-the ID Crozz is built on VW Group's new MEB architecture, a "skateboard" setup that allows an electric motor at the rear and a second one at the front if desired.
Daimler said Monday that its luxury brand Mercedes-Benz planned to offer an electric motor in all its models before the end of 2022, although it cautioned that the shift to electric cars that are lower margin required additional cost savings.

Volkswagen AG CEO Matthias Mueller said in Frankfurt that "the big question that everyone is asking is, 'When will we see (electric cars) in mass volume?'"

Also set to appeal to buyers will be the range of assistance systems available on the auto, including Front Assist and Lane Assist as standard and an optional Traffic Jam Assist system. They are also working on developing autonomous vehicles that could drive themselves - under limited circumstances such as corporate campuses or limited access freeways at first, and possibly more widely later.
The scandal proved to be the strategic shift driver for the company, but this has put VW on a tighter space as they neglect the electric auto race while others have been rampaging with their developments and advances. Crozz concept at Frankfurt and confirmed the all-electric crossover will go into production in 2020 as part of its Strategy 2025 EV roll-out. The premium auto brand is slashing spending to free up €10 billion to develop an electric-car lineup that will comprise as many as 12 models in 2025. "We are setting the scene for a final breakthrough in e-mobility".
