Pope Francis Tells Catholic Legislators: Laws Must Protect “the Defenseless” Like Unborn Children

Pope advises Catholic lawmakers to be guided by Church doctrine

This week Spicer was a member of a large delegation from the International Catholic Legislators Network, a six-year-old group created to discuss promoting Catholic principles in the political arena.

The group was granted an audience with Pope Francis, fulfilling a lifelong wish for the ex-press secretary.

In a photo published to Vatican Radio's Facebook page, you can see Spicer snapping a picture of the Catholic leader.

When President Trump visited the Vatican in May, Spicer was left off a list of White House officials who had a chance to meet Francis. Others show a man dropping to his knee and proposing to his girlfriend in front of the pope.

Lewis Hamilton: NASCAR-style Safety Car was unnecessary
While Hamilton has a year to run on his contract, Vettel's deal expires at the end of this season. The auto is not quite where we need it, " said Hamilton, who was competing in his 200th GP.

"At the time, some White House watchers speculated that Trump purposely left out his press secretary, who was on shaky ground". He was eagerly anticipating meeting the Pope, but discovered at the last minute that he was not on the shortlist of White House officials selected to join the President for the private audience.

Pope Francis urged the politicians to base their decisions on the Catholic Church's teachings, including the sanctity of life for all human beings from conception to natural death.

Whether simply thoughtless or an intentional slight, Spicer's absence drew some sympathy from White House press corps members, who often had a contentious relationship with the former communications director and chief strategist of the Republican National Committee. Catholic lawmakers from the United States and countries across the globe gathered to discuss concerns and share ideas about how to best serve their countries through their faith.
