Govt reviews IT imports from China

On Tuesday, a source in New Delhi, who had been briefed on the military situation on the border, said soldiers foiled a bid by a group of Chinese troops to enter Indian territory in Ladakh, near the Pangong lake.

Personnel from both sides reportedly received minor injuries. In May 2013, the Chinese troops had been intercepted by Indian Army patrol numerous times after the three-week long stand-off between the two countries in the Depsang plains of Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO).

USA conducts "successful" test of THAAD anti-missile system
The drills involved South Korea's road-mobile ballistic missile, the Hyunmoo -2, and the USA forces' Army Tactical Missile System. But Sunday's test came two days after North Korea conducted its second test of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

There is now no official comment on the incident from either New Delhi or Beijing. China had constructed a road up to Finger Four which falls under Siri Jap area, and is five km inside the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). This area has been a bone of contention between India and China as both claim it to be a part of their territory. An Indian official briefed on the matter also said "flag meetings", or ceremonies involving Chinese and Indian soldiers at five points along the frontier usually held on the August 15 anniversary of India's independence, were cancelled on Tuesday. "We urge the Indian side abide by the LAC and relevant conventions between the two sides", she added. "These things happen every summer but this one was slightly prolonged and more serious but no weapons were used", a police source in Srinagar told AFP. Earlier on July 16th, Indian troops stopped road construction by Chinese soldiers which raised a conflict between India and China in Doklam area in the Sikkim sector.

The army was apparently countering reports of a fresh clash breaking out with Chinese troops in the Doklam Plateau, where a almost two-month-long stand-off over a trilateral border terroritorial ownership is still on.
