Watkins, 24, was the fourth overall pick in the 2014 draft after playing in college at Clemson. The Bills sent former second-round pick Ronald Darby to Philadelphia in the deal, which also saw the Bills get a 2018 third-round pick. He has 153 catches for 2,459 yards and 17 touchdowns in three seasons, but topped 1,000 yards just once, in 2015.
The question is, was it enough? When healthy, Watkins is easily one of the most talented wide receivers in football. He can create separation in the middle of the field, but he's also a truly risky deep threat, as evidenced by his career average of 16.1 yards per catch. Darby has started 29 games in two years with the Bills.
But after the Bills' preseason loss to the Vikings on Thursday night, Watkins was all smiles.

The Rams were dead last in yards and scoring last season.
The Rams are excited about rookies Cooper Kupp and Josh Reynolds, but even after the Watkins trade you have to wonder if they've done enough to get markedly better at the position.
Matthews is just one of seven players in league history to have at least 225 catches, 2,500 yds, and 19 TDs in their first 3 seasons.
In 2015 when Watkins played in 13 games, he had 60 receptions for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns. If Watkins doesn't stay healthy, this move could hurt in the long run. Watkins' absence will give also potentially allow rookie Zay Jones to step up and claim the first spot on the team's depth chart at receiver far earlier than anyone expected him to.
