Australian plane bomb plotters 'planned to use meat mincer filled with explosives'

The Australian Federal Police would not confirm media reports the alleged plot may have involved a bomb or plan to release poisonous gas inside a plane.
The Foreign Office has updated its advice to say: "Following the arrest of four men in Sydney in a counter-terrorism operation on 29 July, there are enhanced security measures in place at all major Australian domestic and global airports".
Travellers are also being warned they will need to limit both carry-on and check-in luggage to ensure a seamless screening process.
Qantas and Virgin issued travel alerts to passengers to arrive at the airport two hours before domestic flights and three hours before worldwide flights and to "limit the amount of carry-on and checked baggage". Turnbull said some of these measures will be obvious to the public while others may not be.
Police raided five homes Saturday and removed a domestic grinder and a mincer used to make sausage, the newspaper said.

The precautions include additional checks of cabin and checked baggage at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Cairns and the Gold Coast.
A spokesperson for Qantas Group said it was working closely with the government and its airport partners.
Passengers flying out of Newcastle Airport are being told to get there 30 minutes earlier than usual due to increased security measures.
Australia's Justice Minister Michael Keenan said this plot serves as a reminder that while lone wolf attacks are not the only serious threat to their country.
