Trump bans transgender troops in a tweet

AP News in Brief at 6:04 am EDT

"It just hurts", said the veteran.

But that changed Wednesday, with the words "will not accept or allow" "in any capacity" in tweets from President Trump, citing concerns over the medical costs and distractions he says trans military members create.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not have an answer on what would happen to active transgender military members but said the White House and the Defense Department would work together "as implementation takes place and is done so lawfully". Despite Trump's claim that transgender people are a "burden" to the military, the Rand study found that allowing transgender people to serve openly "would have a minimal impact on readiness and health care costs".

An estimated over 134,000 American veterans are transgender, and over 15,000 transgender people are serving in the military now, according to data revealed by the National Center for Transgender Equality, a USA social justice advocacy organization founded by transgender activists.

Although most commonly used for treating sexual dysfunction in men, ED drugs are also prescribed for other conditions, including pulmonary arterial hypertension.

"I began my day today as I often begin my days by checking Donald Trump's Twitter feed to see how far the insane has spread", Colbert said during his opening monologue.

Representative Mia Love responded with the following tweet Wednesday.

Trump's announcement reverses a policy introduced during the Obama administration and approved by the Defense Department that would allow transgender people to openly serve in the military.

Growing sinkhole forces evacuation of homes
The hole was initially the size of a small swimming pool, AP reports, but now has affected two large single family homes. Someone had called about a "depression" under a boat parked next to the house in Lake Padgett Estates in Land O' Lakes .

It's unclear what role the Pentagon played in Trump's decision to bar transgender war fighters from serving.

Transgender people have served this country honorably for decades.

"Many said they were left in suspense for nine minutes, the time between the first and second tweet", Buzzfeed News reports.

"I would like to see them try to kick me out of my military", Staff Sgt. Logan Ireland told the Air Force Times.

President Trump's recent tweets proclaiming a change in policy for transgender troops is a disappointment for one Anchorage veteran.

"We are indebted to all who serve". "We are essentially divorcing physical readiness characteristics from the physical facts about the people they apply to".

"Our nation's military leaders are in the best position to decide which policies will maintain a strong national defense and uphold national security", he said in a statement. "It's like saying to a woman who's in the military 'sorry, but you no longer can be in the military because there's a possibility that you might get pregnant'". She wears a heart-shaped ring with the American flag every day to remind her of her service.
