Prez Polls Meira Kumar rubbishes claims that she has been made 'a scapegoat' by the Congress

Speaking to the media, Kumar said, "I have said earlier also that I am not the PM face of opposition in 2019, neither am I eligible". "They (Congress) have also ditched Jawaharlal Nehru's ideologies", said Kumar. "We should have alternative narratives (agendas) for the benefit of the country, more than relying only on reactive narratives", Kumar told reporters in Patna on Monday.

"Alternative politics is demand of the time", he added.

Accusing the Congress of stressing too much on the Presidential elections, Nitish added that pressing issues like the plight of farmers and increasing incidents of beef-related lynchings were being ignored.

Bihar Chief Minister and Senior JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar in a press conference on Monday cleared his name from the Prime Ministerial candidacy in the 2019 General election saying he is not the face of the opposition for 2019 elections.

Kumar's comments come at a time when questions have been raised on the continuity of the alliance after JD (U) made a decision to back NDA's presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind while the other members including the Congress and RJD backed the opposition's Meira Kumar, a former Lok Sabha speaker.

The latest round of stores will begin liquidation sales by June 30 and will close by mid-September, Sears said in a statement. The closings will bring the number of announced Sears closing to more than 260 this year in a series of three announcements.

Taking a dig at the Congress and the RJD, the JD (U) leader said the opposition should not object to all government moves just for the sake of opposition unity.

Although widely considered by JD (U) leaders and workers as the prime ministerial candidate of a likely alliance of non-NDA parties, Nitish Kumar denied yet again that he is in the race.

Nitish's statements intensify the cracks within the Opposition following two recent events: the presidential election, in which Nitish broke ranks with the Opposition in declaring his support for Ram Nath Kovind, and Parliament's midnight session over GST which the Congress and a few other Opposition parties boycotted.

Nitish Kumar said the ruling alliance in Bihar remains strong and that he is committed to take the state forward.

Earlier on June 19, Chief Minister Nitish said that a thorough discussion will be held on the matter within the Janata Dal (United) party. Nitish has been citing good track-record and cordial nature of Kovind as the reason behind supporting him. After that when the congress chose to boycott the midnight session of the parliament to lauch the GST in the country, then also his party choose to attend the celebration.
