Manchester bomber didn't act alone; more arrests likely, say police

The arrest is the 23rd under the investigation into the suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert on 22 May in which Salman Abedi killed 22 other people.

A police spokesman said: 'A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the attack at Manchester Arena.

Officers said the man was held at Liverpool's John Lennon airport they were a searching a property in the south of the city, located near to where the attacker Salman Abedi, 22, lived.

Police investigating the Manchester Arena bombing have revealed that they suspect the suicide bomber responsible for the attack "did not work alone".

Police said, as it stands, 23 people have been arrested in connection with the investigation, of which two were quickly de-arrested, and 20 were released without charge. "We do however suspect others were either aware [of] or complicit in the knowledge of this attack", said North West Counter Terrorism Unit Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson.

Drama As Half N*ked Strippers Entertain Prisoners
Smalberger said the final report was scheduled for June 30 and he expects that more prison officials would be suspended. He said the department condemns the incident with the contempt that it deserves.

British police are now hoping to speak to the terrorist's brother, Hashem Abedi, who was arrested in Tripoli with his father, Ramadan, following the attack and remains in custody in Libya.

"We are now engaging with the Crown Prosecution Service and the Libyan authorities", he said. We do believe further arrests are possible.

Salman Abedi, a Briton of Libyan heritage, detonated a homemade knapsack bomb as crowds were leaving Manchester Arena on May 22, killing 22 people and himself.

And Mr Jackson did not rule out further arrests. It is understood the man arrested is not Abedi's brother.

Jackson said police have reconstructed Abedi's movements in the weeks before the attack, as he obtained components and built his deadly device.
