NBA All-Rookie Teams 2017: Celtics' Jaylen Brown Voted To Second Team

Sixers' Joel Embiid and Dario Saric both named NBA All-Rookie First Team

The former University Virginia star is also the first ex-college senior to pick up the ROY since Tim Duncan in 1988. Those two, along with Embiid, are finalists for Rookie of the Year.

Leonard was trying to be the first to win three in a row since Dwight Howard. Frankly if the award was "who is the best rookie based on talent" there's a case to be made Ben Simmons should have gotten votes over Embiid or Saric for the Sixers.

Bill Russell received the first Lifetime Achievement award. Buddy Hield of the Kings and Willy Hernangomez of the Knicks round out the rest of the All-Rookie first team.

Russell pointed at them and said he would kick all their butts. "So I just want to say thank you to everybody". Gordon's first year in Houston was one to remember. Against the NBA Finals competitor Cleveland Cavaliers, Brown shot 58.6 percent and averaged 9.0 points, including a playoff career-high 19 points in game 2, during the Eastern Conference Finals. The second-round pick - No. 36 overall - from Virginia averaged 10.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists and helped the Bucks reach the playoffs.

Despite Embiid's social media campaign to get either Saric or himself the top rookie award, Brogdon finished 166 media voting points ahead of the second placed finisher.

A guard, Brogdon put together a solid season for Milwaukee, averaging 10.2 points and 4.2 assists per game while hitting more than 40 percent of his three-point attempts. Embiid - who just finished his third season in the National Basketball Association despite playing for the first time - is technically considered a rookie, which means Simmons - a rookie this past season - will be eligible for the Rookie of the Year award next year along with Markelle Fultz.

Those numbers explain more, but still struggle to show the full impact each player had on his team.

Brogdon eventually went on to play in 75 games for the Bucks, starting in 28 games. Leonard won the award the last two seasons.

Chris Paul of the LA Clippers and Patrick Beverley of the Houston Rockets round out the squad.

The second team guards were Tony Allen of Memphis and Danny Green of the Spurs. Playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, he's going to be an integral piece moving forward in Milwaukee's backcourt.

Earlier Monday, Brogdon and Saric were unanimously selected to the NBA All-Rookie first team.

The Milwaukee Bucks rookie took home the award beating out other big-name contenders like Embiid and Dario Saric, both of the Philadelphia 76ers. There were four global players on the first team for the first time in the award's history.
