The wife of James Hodgkinson, the left-wing terrorist who opened fire at a Republican baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, Wednesday morning, spoke to reporters outside of her home for the first time on Thursday. Investigators have not determined the objective of the list and they are still trying to determine its meaning. We focused this week's segment on the local connection to the shooting, which was perpetrated by a 66-year-old man from Belleville, James T. Hodgkinson. Though his office initially indicated he was in stable condition, it is now being reported that he is in "critical" condition and may require more surgery. She said her estranged husband had sold nearly everything from his business before leaving. He told her he was going to Washington DC to "change the tax brackets" and "work on taxes", she said. "He was just a very calm, rational person, I thought", he said.

"Bobby, ' he said, 'I know him". "There's nothing I could do about it". And the people told me, you know, despite these splits, it doesn't divide them personally, and they're able to get along.

Hodgkinson volunteered for the Bernie Sanders campaign, and he also was a supporter fo the Southern Poverty Law Center and before firing on the Republican team made up of members of Congress he asked if the group was Republican or Democrat.

Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake added that he saw a member of Scalise's security detail return fire on the gunman for what felt like 10 minutes, even though the police officer was wounded in the leg.

Hodgkinson was a volunteer for the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign past year and has comments on his social media accounts strongly criticizing President Trump.

In June 2006, police were dispatched to Hodgkinson's home in response to a domestic dispute that began when Hodgkinson allegedly hit a woman's dog while it slept in her driveway, according to a sheriff's report.

"ATF has conducted traces on these weapons and has determined that both were purchased by the shooter from federal firearms licensees". The bureau said it had recovered a cell phone, computer, and camera in the van.

Trump, who visited Scalise at the hospital on Wednesday, said Scalise was "in some trouble but he's going to be okay, we hope".

Agents continue to look into the shooter's activities and social media presence in the months leading up to the attack.
