Son of former Atlanta Braves player on life support after getting hit in face by baseball
Former Atlanta Braves player Keith Lockhart's teenage son is battling for his life after being hit in the face with a baseball during a tournament game last week, multiple outlets report.
Jason Lockhart was hit in the face with a ball June 17, according to his sister Sydney's Facebook page.
Last Monday, he was at the doctor's office and his nose began to bleed. "It is to remove and replace the packing and to take a good thorough look around inside to make sure there isn't an area behind the packing that could be causing any more bleeding".
Doctors say the bleeding wouldn't stop. A CT scan showed a tear inside his nose from the impact, and doctor's diagnosed it as a lacerated artery.
He was then put in the intensive care unit and on a ventilator until June 22, to see where the bleeding originated from and placed him on life support on June 23.
"So we have surgery today at 3:00pm and we are asking for big bold prayers". They determined all bleeding was, in fact, in the nose and not coming from his brain.

Sue Hodgkinson said she felt "horrible", saying, "I had no idea this was going to happen and I don't know what to say about it". In a San Bernardino classroom last April, Cedric Anderson shot his wife (and two of her students) shortly after she left him.
Sydney told "CBS This Morning" her family has been amazed by the outpouring of love, and urged people to continue praying for her brother.
On Tuesday, Jason underwent his fifth surgery in nine days.
"The entire Braves organization is offering our prayers for Jason and the entire Lockhart family, and we encourage all of our great fans throughout Braves Country to do the same", John Schuerholz, Atlanta Braves Vice Chairman, said through the team. They went into both arteries on each side of the nose and cut off the blood supply.
Others have come and sent prayers to Jason and the Lockhart family.
On Friday, Jason's father, who is now a Chicago Cubs scout and also played for the Padres and Royals during his 10-year career, admitted in a tweet that "it's been rough", and added, "a few surgeries but we're confident he's going to be ok".
Throughout the entire ordeal, the Lockharts have expressed gratitude for words of support and prayer from fans.
