India put up an impressive first-half display to dismantle Canada 3-0 for their second consecutive victory in the Hockey World League (HWL) Semi Final Pool B here on Saturday.
With two back-to-back defeats against The Netherlands (0-4) and Canada (0-6), Pakistan were desperate for a win against India to advance in the League. This win has ensured India a quarter-final berth in the tournament though they still have to play against Netherlands on Tuesday.
A clinical performance from India led them to an emphatic 7-1 win over a hapless Pakistan here on Sunday. A fifth goal from Akashdeep Singh made Pakistan's afternoon even more sad. This was the first game between the two sides, since the 2016 Asian Champions Trophy final, which India won 3-2. And on the other side they got 10 chances and they scored 7 goals.
The lone goal for Pakistan came through Umar Bhutta three minutes from the hooter when the contest was already lost. India endured a poor start in reply, losing wickets at regular intervals and slumping to a paltry score of 158 all out in 30.3 overs, with Hardik Pandya the only Indian offering some resistance.
There was still time for Scotland to have a goal of their own chalked off via video referral, with Alan Forsyth's effort from a penalty corner disallowed as it was unclear whether the ball had touched a stick on its way into the net.
Virginians to determine ballot for governor, among other races
Virginia does not require voters to register by party affiliation, but voters will have to choose one party's ballot at the poll. A victory for Northam would be an affirmation of the power of Democratic establishment that's backed him, including Sens.
India secured another penalty corner four minutes into the second quarter but Harmanpreet's flick was saved by Amjad Ali in front of Pakistan goal. It was a great teamwork to score the goal.
