They found cyclist Dan Hanegby, 36, lying on the pavement with severe injuries, police said.
Police say that following his collision with the bus, Hanegby fell to the ground and was then run over by the bus' rear tires.
The collision appeared to be an accident, the authorities said, and the 52-year-old bus driver remained at the scene.
He was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital Center. "The operator of the bus and Hanegby both swerved at the same time to avoid hitting something, causing them to strike each other, according to a police source".
