Drama As Half N*ked Strippers Entertain Prisoners

The images of the women depict one of them undressing a prisoner, while another woman is shown embracing another prisoner as prison officials watched.

In a press conference, the department condemned the incident, and said it would investigate the matter and those found to be guilty would face the consequences.

A major upset was caused after some pictures leaked on social media with ladies wearing rather revealing clothing in what looks like entertainment for prisoners at the Johannesburg Prison.

"The intention was never to have strippers in the facility‚" Acting National Correctional Services Commissioner James Smalberger told a news briefing.

Thirteen prison officers face disciplinary action and, Smalberger says, will be hit with the "full might of our code of conduct"; whilst some deny knowledge of the type of women that were being invited in. The management of the event should have never allowed, and should have immediately halted, this type of explicit entertainment, as pronounced by our policies.

Cuba rejects new US policy, saying pressure will not work

"The preliminary findings indicate that at least 13 officials will be served with letters of contemplation of suspension".

He said the department condemns the incident with the contempt that it deserves.

Smalberger said the final report was scheduled for June 30 and he expects that more prison officials would be suspended.

He confirmed six items of entertainment were on the programme during the Youth Day celebration on June 21, but the illicit half-naked dancers were not approved.

Smalberger said speculation regarding the reason behind the incident would not be dismissed and would form part of investigations.
