CNN fires Kathy Griffin

President Donald Trump fired back at Kathy Griffin today, after the comedian posted a photo of herself holding what appears to be a bloody, severed fake head of the president.

Griffin, 56, who had co-hosted CNN's annual New Year's Eve coverage for the last decade, apologized on Tuesday and said she had asked the celebrity photographer Tyler Shields to remove the picture from the internet.

Griffin drew condemnation from many on social media after posting the original video on Twitter earlier in the day.

"I went too far", she says in her contrite follow-up video.

CNN says it has cut ties with Kathy Griffin after she posted a video that showed her holding a likeness of President Donald Trump's severed head. I understand how it offends people.

First lady Melania Trump issued a statement of her own: "As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing".

"Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. I was wrong", she tweeted.

Texas' New 'Transgender Bathroom Bill' Keeps Biological Sexes Separate in School Facilities
Greg Abbott , R, has in the past expressed support for bathroom restrictions and is expected to sign a measure if it reaches desk. But the NFL, NBA, leading business lobbies and Hollywood celebrities have urged Texas to avoid the issue.

"My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this", he added.

Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Trump's one-time campaign rival Hillary Clinton, called the photo "vile and wrong". Griffin said she has asked him to take down the images.

The comedian anchored CNN's New Year's Eve countdown with Anderson Cooper since 2007. "We are evaluating our New Year's Eve coverage and have made no decisions at this point".

Squatty Potty, a Utah-based bathroom products company, said in a statement Tuesday that it has suspended an ad campaign featuring Griffin.

Additionally, Route 66 Casino Hotel in New Mexico announced on Facebook it had canceled a performance by Griffin scheduled for July at the resort.

In a behind-the-scenes video posted by Shields, Griffin asserted to the camera that she and Shields were "not afraid to do images that make noise".
